Pickelball paddle weight guide

Choosing the Right Pickelball Paddle Weight

Pickleball paddles vary in weight, paddle core, paddle surface, paddle thickness, grip size and handle length.

We’ll talk about the best paddles for different play styles and levels for your game.

Different Paddle Weights

The weight of your paddle affects power and swing speed. Lightweight paddles are used for control and quickness. Midweight paddles are the most common and recommend for most players.  Heavyweight have less touch and more power.

Lightweight Paddles

These paddles are for quick reactions and control. If you’re an experienced player that easily generates power with a strong swing you can take advantage of the lighter paddle for control.

Midweight Paddles

This might be the best paddle for you if you don’t know which weight to choose from. This strikes a balance between the lightweight paddles and heavyweight paddles. Choose a paddle around 7.8 to 8 ounces in weight.

Heavyweight Paddles

If you’re looking for some extra power and spin try out the heavier weight paddles. These type of paddles can help you if you have a slower arm swing or in need of more pop.
